Likes:
Fighting Crime: More to the point, Akemi loves being a hero, out there saving the world and getting recognition for her work. Sure, the obvious recognition is cheap dolls that barely look like her and overpriced souvenirs at Tokyo airport, but there's a deeper force that rewards Akemi. It's the utter righteousness she feels while patrolling the streets in costume. Whereas being an Idol made her famous, being a Senshi made her relevant and it actually means something to the whole world, not just herself. She's special and she loves it and she's a super hero, darn it! How can that not be any more awesome? How many people can say they are famous in 2, technically 3 identities? If only she was famous as Akemi, too... Being a hero is serious business, and Akemi doubly takes it seriously. She's trained her body and her behaviors to accentuate everything she believes she needs to be in order to be the perfect warrior. She's been fighting crime since she was 11, after all, so she's been doing this for a long, long time.
Caffeine: As if her natural, exuberant state wasn't energized enough, Akemi has to go add extreme amounts of caffeine to her metabolism. She is flat out addicted and will take caffeine in all forms. It is rare to see her in the mornings without an energy drink or a can of coffee from the hotel's vending machine. She learned to appreciate the caffeine buzz early in her life when her father was demoted to a sarariman, or office worker, when Akemi was just out of toddler hood. The early example of her father chugging coffee to plow through deadlines had a major impact on Akemi, and she took up serious coffee drinking just as her father was promoted back to his original position in the Bank. Now, the caffeine addict that she is, she gets terrible headaches if she's without caffeine for too long, which definitely makes going to sleep difficult, to say the least! And probably what makes Akemi in the morning more Zombie then the vivacious supernatural fighting machine she considers herself to be.
Shiny Accessories/Trinkets: Gold metal bangles on her arms? Hurrah! Kyoko's shiny Mosaics? Fabulous! Akemi loves little knick-knacks that catch her eye, and the shinier they are the better! She adores outrageous accessories, like hair elastics decorated with plastic 'crystal' hearts, and has, at least since becoming Sailor V, taken to wearing at least one heart-shaped accessory on her person at all times.
Colors: As a child, Akemi adored coloring other people's artwork much more than creating her own doodles. She's always had a superb eye for color, and her mother sometimes used her daughter's eyes to pick out the perfect coordinating accessories for their home (at least until she realized Akemi was picking the more expensive ones on purpose!). This appreciation for color vitalizes Akemi's fashion sense; she almost never wears boring black or white ensembles, but instead infuses her wardrobe with as much color as she can get away with. She has no one favorite color, but she loves warm summery colors, especially golds, reds, oranges, and greens. Due to her inability to draw very well, Akemi's creative side has taken shape in her make-up, fashion, and collages/writing in fun differed colored inks.
Misc Likes: Office Supplies, Make Up, Fashions, Geinōkai(The world of entertainment), Kaiju Eiga (monster movies), Cute Boys, Sports, Cheesy Popular Music, People Loving Her, Kuma-chan (her teddy bear).
Dislikes:
Books. Akemi dislikes books for two reasons. First of all, they instantly remind her of her struggles with school, and the memories of being teased bring a nasty ache in her gut even through all her success in life so far. Secondly, she still has a problem with book learning, so they make her feel stupid just looking at them. She's very apprehensive about using them and will try to avoid it at all costs. And yet, upon arriving in this Universe, Akemi has had to face her fear of books to engage in the research necessary to find her Girls and survive away from the comforts of home. But she will still grumble mightily about having to do it, make no bones about it!
Insomnia. It is hard for Akemi to burn off all her excessive energy during the day. It doesn't help that she's addicted to caffeinated beverages and downs half a bazillion energy drinks on any given day. So quite often, Akemi is forced to endure a night of insomnia, fumbling around on her bed, tossing and turning, growing more and more frustrated by her body's inability just to turn off already. Moon's death has added racing thoughts of Akemi's various failures to the mix, leading the poor girl to suffer nearly sleepless cycles every night. 2,3, even 4 hours of sleep at night is just not enough, so Akemi has been forced to take little cat-naps during the day or risk tumbling down a road she'd rather not take. Furthermore, Akemi hates her insomnia because it is ruining her good looks. The amount of makeup it takes to cover up puffy eyes! And on her budget, too!
School. Life is hard enough being a Senshi and finding her team, but then you have to go and add having to LEARN stupid things like mathematics and grammar to the equation? Like a (former) Idol has to do long division anyway! Don't they know who Akemi is? Akemi LOATHES school. She is still plagued by her history as the “stupid” kid, and that fear has made her dislike everything about school. Unlike almost everything else in her life, Akemi just doesn't try very hard when it comes to school. So what if she fails? Just means she's stupid, and she already knew that. Why not move on to more important things, like saving the world?! If she devoted half her determination for finding her girls or training she could be a moderate success, but the truth is, Akemi just doesn't want to, so she slacks off and doesn't apply herself. This departure from school (until someone, particularly an older member of her team, forces her to join) is a welcome vacation, and Akemi is 'loving' every minute of it. Except for the whole being lost in a weird version of Tokyo without her friends and her Princess being dead and no one knowing who Myojo! is.
Creepy Crawling Things. Akemi has an odd relationship with bugs, snakes, reptiles, and slimy yucky creatures. She's fine with them most of the time, as long as they don't stray into her personal zone. Spider crawling all over all the shoes in her closet? No problem! It has a job to do, anyway, getting rid of those pesky flies. But once a beetle or slug finds its way within three feet of her person, enter hysterical, completely irrational Akemi. Hyperventilating, full blown panic, screeching at the top of her lungs, jumping atop furniture AND people--- just not a pretty picture at all. Creepy crawly youma are Akemi's worst nightmare and despite her resolve and training, she does fall to pieces if she has to touch or get close to one. Attacking from afar she's fine with, but if one touches her, Akemi's out of the battle big time. She's always had this innate fear of insects and creepy crawlies, but it has intensified after interactions with some pretty icky youma. Just don't make her go there, PLEASE.
Moon x Endymion. At her soul, Akemi is a romantic individual, so you'd think she'd be all goo-goo-ga-ga over her good friend getting the perfect guy. Well, not so much, because Akemi was incredibly jealous that Moon got to get the soul mate and there hasn't been anything left over for poor Akemi. Akemi didn't really want Endymion; truthfully, Akemi isn't ready for a major romantic relationship anyway, because she's way too domineering and ego-centric for it to work. This jealous behavior often colored her interactions with the lovers and bullied her into really nasty, completely green-eyed outbursts. And a lot of yelling at Moon to go run laps, ALONE. And even more pouting when Akemi saw them kissing. She's still simmering with jealousy when it comes to Misora and Kyoko, even if she isn't attracted to either one of them, but she knows better than to yell at either one of those two to run laps!
Misc Dislikes: Long Boring Movies, Unhappy Endings, Airplanes, Her Orders Being Ignored, Cheap Food, Our Universe, decaffeinated beverages, libraries, public transportation, responsibility of having her own place (what, she has to do her own laundry now?!), being away from her parents/her girls/negaverse.
Hobbies:
Training. Akemi is a big believer in training her body, her behaviors, EVERYTHING about herself so she can attain her goals. She sculpted herself into an Idol, she built her body up to be a better Senshi, and she is still training herself into being a more effective leader of her team. As a result, training herself, be it struggling to read a leadership manual or going to a free course on how to use the internet to use it as a resource to hunt down clues of where her girls are, takes up a huge amount of time. She's also a believer in using her forms of entertainment as training, which is why she enjoys going to the Gēsen so much.
Visiting the Gēsen. The bright lights! The incessant pulse! The competitive allure! The rush to reach the coveted top ten of a brand new video game! Akemi flat out loves everything about the video gaming centers she frequents in her downtime. Not only are video games incredibly entertaining, but many also have the benefit of acting as supplemental training exercises, sharpening her reflexes and enhancing her motor coordination. And it goes without saying that Akemi loves drawing out her dramatic flair! In the Negaverse, Akemi's games of choice were music simulation games, chiefly Beatfeet and Jop Bop Bananza, so she's sure to branch out into Beatmania and DDR in our universe. She hates shoot-em games and fighting games-- she has enough of THAT as a Senshi, thank you very much!
This is a relatively new hobby for Akemi. She never went to an Arcade until it was suggested as a good, inconspicuous place for the Senshi to meet. And Akemi was quickly hooked, quickly goading her Senshi into spending more and more time in the Arcades (telling them it was a fabulous place to 'work out' for cheap!) and as a good place for a bunch of girls of assorted ages meeting one another for covert meetings. And this is a place she'll be quick to suggest for Senshi Meet-ups again in this Universe.
Jogging. Without her chunk of yen to fall back on, this is something that Akemi is taking outside the walls of her families apartment building and onto the streets for the first time. Akemi does her best thinking when she's on the move, and jogging is a low impact activity that allows her to burn off some of her excessive energy without having to concentrate on what she's doing. Plus, Akemi uses her jogging sessions as little scouting missions, hunting out clues of villainous activity or, more importantly, hunting down her missing girls. There's something infinitely satisfying for Akemi in putting one foot down in front of another, getting her that much closer to achieving her goals and getting back home.
Goals:
Find her Girls. This is the first goal, the major preoccupation of Akemi's current life. A temporary goal, to be sure, but that doesn't make it any less important. Akemi has dedicated herself to getting her girls back together, and she will stop at nothing to do it. Absolutely nothing.
Getting out of Dodge. Her school is a piece of cake compared to this universe, and Akemi is preoccupied with just how she's going to leave it and return to the Negaverse.
Revenge. Something killed Moon, and once Akemi moves out of denial phase, she's going to launch directly into a full blown anger fest. And she will find that thing that killed Moon and vanquish it, in the name of love and justice damn it!
Kick Starting her Dead Career. Myojo! remains a large part of Akemi's personal identity, and she hasn't gotten it through her stupidly optimistic skull that her time as an Idol is over. The fact that she still gets recognized, albeit not as much (and not at all in this Universe), hasn't gotten that important fact to sink into her head. While this is not nearly as much of a focus as the previous three, it is still a big goal in her life, and she is still keeping it simmering in the back of her brain. You do not want to see the lyrics she's made. Or HEAR them, either, without a huge amount of auditory distortion the producers had to do to her album!
Good Points:
The Multi-tasking Queen. Seriously, Akemi can out multi-task anyone out there. Even as a child she was able to keep multiple projects going at once, but the skill was really strengthened when she juggled school, her Idol run, and Sailor V-ing about Tokyo at the same time. Well, she failed miserably with her schooling, but she was certainly a success with the other two! She's particularly good at keeping track of multiple projects in her head at the same time-- and keeping track of multiple people and their tasks, too.
Passionate. When it comes to her life, Akemi is a person of passion. She cares deeply for the people in her life and the subjects that interest her, and she feels deeply against the things she doesn't like as well. She might not have a beautiful way of polishing her words to inspire people, but her raw passion leeches into her words to give them the oomph of a leader who really does care, and that has helped her a great deal with being a leader despite her young age. She may not be Miss Compassionate there to stop and sugar coat everything, but her passion does color her dealings with the world. She feels deeply, and that is very much apparent with people who interact with her.
Hard-working, but still flexible. In a word, Akemi is adaptable. She has worked very hard to physically transform herself into first an Idol and then a Senshi, and it was through raw, bone tiring work that she turned her flabby self into something that could be admired and respected, or at least in the case of being a Senshi, actually taken seriously. It may take her a lot of hard work and time, but she will adapt herself and her behaviors to suit whatever goal she's trying to achieve. This is where her optimism flourishes, because Akemi truly believes with a little (okay, a lot) of training, people can achieve their goals. After all, she did! Try Harder and Try Better are Akemi's life mottoes.
Quick Thinking and Creative. Plan not working? Fine, she'll come up with a new one on the spot. Her ability to adapt to a current situation really works in her favor in all aspects of life, not only as a Senshi, but also as a recovering childhood Idol.
Flaws:
Blunt. She might be the most honest person you know, but she lacks any ability to ease the blow the whole truth can bring you. She has very little ability to work the subtle mojo, so not only can most people can tell at a glance when she's withholding the full truth, but when she does lay out what she really thinks, she's letting it out with very little compassion or euphemisms. If you suck, she's going to tell you-- and she's going to expound exactly why and what you can do to change yourself so you don't suck. She can be very offending, particularly to people who are in grief or are distressed, because she doesn't sugar coat her words. Akemi just doesn't have the time to sit there and think of alternative ways to say things, and *she'd* much rather people just spit out what is bothering them. However, Akemi does get overemotional, a lot of times angry but sometimes she just cries, if people criticize her. Akemi doesn't realize this is her indulging in a huge case of hypocritical behavior, and if anything when it is brought up she just gets even more blunt with people. You think she's afraid of the truth? Well, she's hurl that truth you don't want to hear right at you, five times harsher. Her transparent passion may dim the hurt her bluntness can cause a bit, but the sting can still be pretty fierce, particularly in emotional characters. Her blunt tongue is definitely near the top of her most annoying and potentially damming (for the ostracizing it can create, if nothing else) traits. And then there's her Drill Sergeant mode when training the Senshi...
Domineering. While she may be good at managing people, Akemi does suffer from the need to over manage the small things. It isn't that she doesn't trust you to do it right, she just isn't convinced you'll do it the best way. She rubs her nose in everyone's business, triple checking people and making it apparent that it just isn't how SHE'D do it. It is very clear that Akemi is a my way or the highway person, even though she does try very hard (just fails miserably most of the time) to listen and take into account other people's thoughts and ideas. You making a coffee drink for her? Be prepared for backseat barista-ing. That foam is so not prepared correctly, you have to do it like this! Another annoying and potentially damming trait, unfortunately.
Pack Rat. While she has no problem managing people and what they are doing, keeping track of her own things is almost impossible. Why? Because she's a messy at heart, a person who is very much emotionally attached to her things, and as she gets stressed she gets even more tied into her material belongings. Suddenly, she can't bare to leave anything behind, leading her to obsessively keep the stupidest of things. Transit tickets? She's got them. Used chopsticks? Every pair she's gotten in this universe. But ask her where anything is? Ha! Akemi has to rely on the cats to help her find necessities, so a trip to Akemi's hotel room is spending a half hour trying not to laugh as the cats swim through the rubble of Akemi's life. Artemis has a system of keeping the really important things organized away from Akemi's disorganized self, but he often fails because Akemi will find the cache and move it and forget where she put everything. Poor, poor Artemis.
Over-energetic. Akemi naturally is hard enough to handle with her bouncing off the walls, but add in her caffeine addiction and how much of an Endorphin high she gets from stress-- Akemi's a nuclear bomb walking down the street, her overbearing energy threatening to burst out at the worst possible moment. She's exhausting to be around, her body stuck in the fight response and unable to down shift at all. Akemi isn't one to pace-- she RUNS in place, especially since when Akemi is engaged in physical activity she does her best thinking. She's just very physically energized, bouncing around to a techno beat only she can hear, her brain on super-charge, shifting between multiple topics faster than anyone can follow. Having to relax is pure hell for Akemi, because her body absolutely refuses to do it. She just keeps going, an energizer bunny, bulldozing over everyone with her flamboyant and exhausting energy.
Personality:
Overview (general moods, summary)
Akemi is not as superficial as her interests would have you think, but it does takes a little work to reason her out. But then, what made you think love was simple?
You see, Akemi is intense, particularly in her general moods. She isn't just happy, she's intensely happy, so happy people five blocks away can tell by the gleam of her huge smile. She isn't just sad, she's intensely sad, so sad people in other buildings can hear her howling. Her emotions are dialed up to 11, fueled by both her natural energetic state and by the artificial energy she pumps into her veins with her crazy caffeine intake.
Thankfully, the base Akemi is that of a girl with a sunny disposition. But she's got so much energy behind it she's more a sun going supernova than a happy go lucky gentle sun. She's a girl who actively embraces a c'est la vie attitude for life, but embraces it so much she's beating you over the head with it (from her manners, her base mood, her huge grin, her physical mannerisms, even her aura) and because of that, hardly appears to be a Scorpio at all. Don't let the smile fool you-- there's more lurking below Akemi's surface, much more.
Due to the intense stress Akemi is under in our universe, the nastier sides of her personality are coming out of the woodwork. And because of that, the Akemi you see in this universe has a much different base mood than the usual Akemi. This is because her negative sides of her personality, the stressed behaviors and reactions, have taken over her base mood.
Her domineering, aggressive, demanding nature has taken a front seat, helping her bulldoze her way through life when she de-stressed would nimbly jog her way through while eying the pretty flowers. Akemi is the white rabbit now, she doesn't have TIME to sit and smell the floors or enjoy life. She's got to find her girls and she's got to do it NOW. The stakes are incredibly high and she's never been more aware of doubts and failures as she is now. There's a new sense of anxiety and worry that she really hasn't had to deal with before, and it is definitely impacting her general behavior.
Leadership (How she leads the Negaverse Senshi)
When Akemi first stumbled upon the Negaverse Senshi, she realized at once there was a serious problem with the team. And that problem lay in them not getting enough training and, (keep in mind this is her opinion) not caring enough about their Senshi Duties. It wasn't that hard for her to take charge of the group early on, because it was clear that Akemi had gained a great deal of experience over the years and was eager to pass it on. She became what is known as a telling leader by instinct, knowing that in order to get her team where she needed them to be, she had to focus on telling the girls what to do, not focusing on their feelings or their complaints. So what if you have a test in two days? We have to go on patrol now! Youma's don't wait for your tests to be over and done with before they run around Tokyo creating havoc! Haven't you seen a Godzilla movie?!
Akemi's goal early on was to work her girls to the bone. She wanted her team not just to be great warriors, but a cohesive unit as well. One where everyone confident in their ability to kick youma's tush and the infighting was kept to a minimum. As the months wore on and Akemi sat down (grudgingly) with some Leadership books, she began to back away from her earlier approach of simply yelling at her team to do as she said, end of story. She felt everyone was looking to her to solve all the problems, and Akemi was uncomfortable with that idea. And the best way she saw to accomplish that was to open up the Senshi meetings for other people's ideas.
This worked fabulously. It really showed that Akemi trusted her team and boosted up team morale. But when the Outers showed up, Akemi was faced with some how bringing two teams of very different warriors together. Because she really wanted to be seen as a credible leader, one who could lead an effective team, Akemi worked very hard at creating an open, comfortable, and above all else trusting environment at the meetings with both groups. She made it clear that she valued the experience of the Outers and they were a welcome and needed addition to the Team, but that they were Senshi now, not a splinter group, and if they wanted to succeed they had to work together.
And once the comfortable atmosphere was well maintained, Akemi let her telling leadership return full throttle. She pushed her team-- but no more than she would push herself. She made lists of everyone's specialties-- and then figured out how to use those specialties effectively and told the girls that's just what they were going to do. She fought hard to keep the team peace-- and wasn't above yelling at (most) of her girls to run laps when they did something to alienate the other side of the team. She was effective because she was strong, attempting to keep a firm handle on what could have been an explosive situation with the two teams.
And it worked. On an individual level, some might not feel Akemi's leadership is perfect, but as a team, they follow her. How could they not? She's the most experienced. She's taken control and works them hard, but she's worked her team as she works herself. She pushes her team constantly, but not on a mad whim; she's training them to be their very best. Furthermore, it is readily apparent that Akemi would do anything for her team. Her passion for being a Senshi can be seen as inspiring as well. Ultimately, her positive attributes-- quick thinking, good people manager, hard working, and adaptable-- all add up to a girl who, with a lot of hard work, has managed to keep her team an effective fighting unit. Well, until they were all separated and Akemi took a confidence nosedive, but no one is perfect!
Self-image (what does your character think of herself?)
Akemi doesn't think she's very smart, but she does admire her own determination and incredible drive when it comes to finishing hard work, believing this balances out her stupidity, particularly when it comes to academics. Her life motto is to Try Harder and Try Better, so failure usually represents a time to flex her muscles and dig deeper and excel. However, her recent failure saving Moon has hurt Akemi's self image much more than failure usually does, so she's grappling with a weird, awkward situation where hard work and training can't save the day, because her friend is *dead*.
But Akemi loves how passionate she is. In fact, she believes this to be her best virtue. After all, she dislikes people who lack passion, who are wishy-washy, and who just can’t make up their minds. She appreciates her own honesty and wouldn't trade it, despite all the pain her blunt behavior can cause. Akemi would rather tell the truth than save someone pain.
One thing Akemi doesn't like about herself is how emotional she can be, particularly when she's under a great deal of stress. She cries a lot and she hates it, but that doesn't stop her from weeping at silly things like romantic movies or more serious things, such as the fate of her poor Princess.
Motives (what makes your character want to do what she wants to do? what is she after?)
Fundamentally, Akemi is a huge, flaming optimist. That fact is what fuels much of her motivations in life, particularly her more passionate responses. Her being an optimist is less about believing the world is going to be alright and more about believing in herself and her ability to achieve her life goals.
On a personal level, Akemi is motivated by the belief that if she just works hard enough, she can accomplish anything. And that belief has been reinforced in her life. She learned how to read in spite of her learning difficulties. She became an Idol in spite of her lack of talent. And she became a Senshi and a leader in spite of her immaturity. And she accomplished all these great things with hard work. How can she not be optimistic about achieving her goals when she's done so many great things? Akemi can move mountains with her optimism, which is why that optimism represents her positive motivations.
But Akemi isn't infallible when it comes to her emotions and beliefs. Doubts also color her motivations. Her whole motivation to be better is fueled by a doubt that she isn't good. That she doubts she's doing things well enough. The optimism steps in and tells her she'll be alright if she works hard enough, but at the core motivation, particularly as stressed as she is in this universe, she's ruled by these doubts.
Akemi is never satisfied with her abilities as a leader, and that doubt has led a certain degree of aggressiveness into her leadership style, particularly her over managing and domineering behaviors. When she started as Sailor Venus and was trying to train and lead her team, her approach was much more drill sergeant than anything else. Screaming at people to do as she said didn't prove to be an effective leadership strategy, unfortunately, so she had to learn to adapt, get over her doubts, and switch her motivations to being her optimism instead. Her doubts very clearly represent her negative motivations.
On a more general note, Akemi is influenced by her emotions and passions, although not ruled by them as she is her doubts and optimism. They do, however, color her motivations. Frustration and jealousy are her two biggest emotional motivating forces. When Akemi is frustrated, she tends to lash out, particularly if it is over a subject or incident that makes Akemi feels stupid or inferior. And when Akemi is jealous, she lets that motivate her, allowing herself to dive right into the typical green-eyed behaviors full throttle.
General behavior (how does she interact with and act around acquaintances or strangers?)
As much as it shames her to admit it, Akemi acts rather flighty around strangers. She also acts fairly immature, noisy, and more than a little vain. But most of all, she acts extremely self-centered, particularly in this universe. This is because of how much stress Akemi is under; once she solves the things causing her so much stress, her flighty reactions to strangers will drastically calm down and she'll have more time to put forth a better, nicer presentation of herself. In this Universe, though, Akemi is so consumed with being a Senshi, training, finding her girls, Moon's death, and just keeping everything to the point of making sense for herself, that she doesn't spent a lot of time making herself come across as sane to people she doesn't know.
Picture Akemi muttering about seemingly random things on her breath, scanning crowds obsessively, dolling out her cab fare, and being generally disinterested in anything you have to say. It isn't that she's aloof, per say, just too distracted to flex the social muscles she's developed on people she doesn't know very well.
It takes a lot of effort for Akemi to deal with strangers because she works very hard to maintain her mental image of what a 16 year old girl should be (immature, loud, and vain - though in Akemi's case, the self-centered behavior isn't as much of an act). When you add that act to the time it takes her to introduce herself, go through social formalities, and get what she needs out of you (all while concentrating on NOT giving away her Super Hero identity)-- well, Akemi just has too many things to do. In this way, Akemi is very much a super-energized White Rabbit.
This distracted and flighty Akemi is most apparent when she's interacting with service people. When she is among friends and comfortable in her surroundings, she's a much better client. But as stressed out as she is, and at least until she has half of her team together, she's going to be a sale's employee's nightmare. Akemi isn't setting out to be this way. In fact, she's rather embarrassed when her behavior is brought to her behavior and immediately tries to make amends with those she's tormented. But unless someone brings it up, she's going to be a lousy customer. Drama queen behaviors in the fitting room, holier-than-thou attitude with the employees, micromanaging the employees by arguing with their sushi making process... Yeah, Akemi is an employee's nightmare when she's on her own. As stressed as she is right now, she really needs her team to act as a social buffer.
Akemi acts this way because she tries very hard to be perceived as normal from her interactions with people who are unaware of her secret identity. It can be construed as a defense to keep people from getting too close to her, but this isn't really why she acts the way she does. This behavior is more like a set of innate reactions that appear when she's around strangers and acquaintances. Akemi is not subtle, so it would be difficult for her to act in a way that isn't who she really is. She's every bit as flighty around the Senshi - except when she's with them, another side of her personality takes over, and her flighty reactions are less obvious.
Basically Akemi is a bad Scorpio - she doesn't have the whole mysterious persona because she is just too focused on her leadership!
That focus influences her interactions with the non-Negaverse Senshi. Unfortunately, often the influences are usually her negative commanding qualities. She tends to be domineering, overly blunt, and generally follow Misora's lead. Furthermore, Akemi feels she doesn't have the time to sit around going over pleasantries. She's got to find her team, and now you want her to train a group of green recruits?
There is a big however here. Akemi is incredibly susceptible to flattery, and she works very well with other, high energy, enthusiastic people. You want to learn? You really really do? Well she'll take you by the hand and show you! People who are nice to Akemi automatically have to run fewer laps. It is just her way.
Those who question her methods or act indecisive, however, get the full blunt of Akemi's nastier side. She is annoyed by indecisive people, but she absolutely cannot stand indecisiveness on the Battlefield. Make your plan and get it done! There isn't enough time to sit around and debate! Picture a fuming, fully frustrated Akemi breathing down your neck, who is fully prepared to work you to death until you come to a decision already. She will do anything in her power to beat that trait out of a Senshi.
Intimate behavior (how does she act around friends/family?)
Akemi behaves in a more mature, composed attitude around her Senshi, particularly when she is in command of the team. She's not calm and zen like by any means and is still an energized fluffball, but she gains a focus that draws her attention to one item, and that creates the illusion of a more mature and composed Akemi. And while Akemi is still going a mile-a-minute, the Senshi are usually able to follow what she's muttering about, and even better, are used to her crazy trains of thoughts. She doesn't appear to be quite as distracted and flighty around the Senshi, then, as she can appear around strangers.
Her flexibility and quick thinking allows her to move with the punches, adapt to the situation at hand, and form new ideas fairly quickly and efficiently. She uses her management skills to be more aware of her girls and how to interact with them on a personal level to get what she needs out of them (although this doesn't always work, unfortunately, because Akemi is largely unable to lie effectively enough). Her high levels of energy allow her to bully her way through battles, and her passion can bleed into the team's motivations - though it's much less a force of inspiration rather than a spread of Akemi's energy through the team.
Her tough attitude is tempered with her high energy, so she doesn't appear cold and cut off from the team at all. Her bulldozing behaviors, particularly with blunt responses tot he team, over bearing attitude, and her tendency to micromanage don't always make her the nicest leader, particularly when she is stressed. However, her leadership style (outlined a few sections above) proves that she, nevertheless, is remarkably effective.
But Akemi tries so hard, and she's kept the team alive (well, until now), that she has grudgingly won some measure of respect. She might be immature in some ways, but on the field of battle she's a fierce, disciplined, little fighting machine, and that can be inspiring to her fellow warriors. She might not be a charismatic leader, but with Akemi, you know what you'll be getting: someone who will never stop fighting and would never leave a friend behind, and if she suddenly lapses into panic mode over a spider on her shoulder or has another immature reaction, so be it. She's still in command, not because she was innately the best for it, but because she's actively worked at bettering herself to be that leader. And who can resist her toothy grin?
When the need for dominance fades from Akemi and she's interacting with her best friends in their civilian roles, Akemi actually allows her playful side to come out very strong. She's not above lightly teasing those she cares most about and she does engage in quite a bit of saucy, overly vivacious behaviors. She can openly flirt with the waiter at the ice cream shop among her friends, concentrating on him versus the job he's doing for her. She really thrives in a warm, friendly, trust filled environment where she isn't consumed with doubts. Because her negative motivates aren't being fired off nearly as much around friends, even when Akemi is under stress, her old sunny disposition really comes out to shine. However, her tendency for jealousy does rear its ugly head when it comes to her friends and relationships, which, although not a fatal character flaw, can still be very annoying.
Akemi's easier side is most noticeable in her interactions with Artemis. Artemis is more a best friend or older brother for Akemi than a true guardian, and she does get along with him quite well. Though her brain is still going a mile a minute and she's still bouncing around with that incredible energy she has, Akemi is relaxed and happy around her guardian. She teases him, respects him, and feels very strongly that he is her best friend, particularly with Moon gone. As stressed as she is, Akemi is clinging to her relationship with her cat even more, reacting to his freak out modes much stronger than she would normally do, and generally letting herself be led by both the cats, because in a weird way, a weird surrogate parent bond has evolved. She knows they will take care of her, and she takes a great deal of comfort in their presence.
Akemi tends to slow down around her friends while in particularly stressful situations. This is stronger in the presence of her Senshi in civilian form, because she feels confident that she's around people who can help share her workload and she trusts them to keep watch. So do you mind if she rests on your couch for just a bit? Because around people she is truly comfortable with, no matter how stressed she may be, she can finally get some decent shut eye. Not so much with two tiny kitties in a huge unfamiliar city.
And when it comes to the Outer Senshi, Akemi firmly counts them among her team. In fact, Akemi tries very hard to squash any division between the two teams (even though the Inners are *clearly* the best in her mind). Unfortunately, Akemi does have her favorites on the Outer team, and all the favorites spots are taken by Misora. When Akemi first met her, she was terribly impressed. The woman was like an Amazon! A fierce woman fighter, ready to kick butt and take names! Sure she had pretty severe personality defects, but she could fight! Well! Finally someone Akemi didn't have to TRAIN! Well, she still had a few pointers for the other girl, but she didn't immediately launch into drill sergeant mode when confronting what Akemi believed were Misora's areas for improvement. To this day, Akemi doesn't launch into domineering mode around Misora when in civilian mode, and only flexes her command muscles around the girl when they are on the battlefield. In Akemi's eyes, Misora's as close to her equal as her girls are going to get, so she doesn't have to be harsh with Misora (and she's a little hesitant to see what would happen if she yelled at Misora to run laps). There's a respect for Misora-- not a hero worship by far, because Akemi is always aware she's in charge-- and that does color her interactions with the girl, however one-sided the feelings (purely of respect and admiration on a fighting level, mind you) may be.
Face: Blessed with a beautiful shade of eye-color, Akemi loves her blue-green eyes, even if they are more pale green than pale blue. Sure they are weak in color and kind of watery, but they are unique, just like she is! She has wide eyes despite their general almond shape, magnified by her flashy, bright orange-red glasses. She has terrible vision, and uses her fabulous frames as an ultimate fashion statement. When she can remember where she put them, that is. Akemi has thick lashes covered in thick, black mascara and her face is always plastered with colorful makeup (around her eyes, that is. She loves wearing unusual eyeshadow combinations, like green and yellow). As for her eyebrows, they are hardly there, so she has to pencil them in. And trying to find an eyebrow shade that matches pale blonde is a bitch, thank you very much, so Akemi is treasuring her makeup bag very much in this weird Universe! Unfortunately, she has bags under her eyes from her lack of sleep, but she tries very hard to cover them with makeup. Sharp eyes can notice her illusion, but those who don't have acute vision won't notice them.
Her facial shape is unapologetically heart shaped, with cheekbones more curvy that sharp but still prominent in her face. Her nose is a little on the long side for an Asian face but retains a pert, round shape to her nostrils. But the real, attractive feature of Akemi's face lies with her mouth. She has a fabulous smile, with full lips, sparkling and evenly spaced white teeth, and a wee little dimple on her right cheek.
Hair: Akemi's hair is fried from
repeated hair dyes and bleaches. Naturally it is an orange-blonde
shade, but she hates how brassy it is and prefers a more subtle, pale
yellow shade. She previously has used a lot of chemical relaxers to
smooth out her naturally crimpy, wavy hair, but her next appointment
to re-apply these harsh chemicals was suppose to happen the day they
returned from this universe. Oops. Her hair, then, is very fuzzy and
all over the place and her brassy orange roots are definitely
showing. Her hair falls below her shoulders just above mid back and
is usually pulled into either a high pony tail or high pig tails,
held in place with elastics. And they are really strong elastics,
because Akemi has incredibly thick hair. She loves her elastics with
plastic hearts attached and wears them often. They are a trademark
of her Idol days. Despite her displeasure with her hair's appearance,
Akemi refuses to go to a shop to get it fixed-- first of all, she
doesn't have the money, and secondly, she doesn't trust anyone to do
her hair beyond her hairdresser back home. It does distress her a
lot, though, so brace yourself for a lot of complaining.
Build: Akemi is a pert 5'1”–
without heels, that is, and Akemi *always* is wearing heels of some
kind, particularly strappy heels! She's very proportionate, so her
figure doesn't look scrunched up for her size. This is not just
natural good genes, but also because Akemi has acquired, through her
hard work and diligence towards exercise, a rather impressive
muscular physique that adds the illusion of length to her body. She's
got lean muscles in her legs and core, but her arms are obviously
strong, and she's so proud of them that she showcases them with her
wardrobe in spite of the anti-muscle stigma she's had to face over
her teen years. Having to exercise outside has Akemi fretting for her
skin color, which she has worked very hard to retain as a her ideal
of pale porcelain, through avoiding the sun, wearing high SPF makeup,
and using a wide variety of creams for her face. Low money doesn't
stop her drive towards skin perfection-- she just has to rely on the
cats to find spare money to cover her skin pampering! Her chest is
barely a B cup, but she invested in some pretty spectacular bras to
make her cleavage look more impressive. Unfortunately, she only
brought one of these bras with her, so she's saving it for outfits
she needs to wear to do some serious impressing in.
Voice: Akemi speaks (and sings) in a low,
gravely Contralto. While her speaking voice can be pleasantly warm,
particularly when she speaks slowly and in leadership mode, the more
agitated or crazy energized she gets, the more pitchy and harsher her
voice gets, literally grating on your ears. And that is exactly what
her singing voice is, too. How she ever got to be an Idol lies
directly with audio-distortion at the hands of producers and a LOT of
lip syncing.
Clothing: If there is one thing that makes
Akemi stand out beyond her pale yellow hair or unusual eye color, it
is her choice in fashions. She loves color, flashy and flamboyant
outfits, and isn't afraid to show some serious skin. Furthermore, no
outfit is complete without a half a dozen accessories, the shinier
the better. She wears everything from bright vests and patterned
gaucho pants to floaty, ultra feminine skirts in outrageous colors
with clashing layered tanks. Reds, bright pinks, oranges, yellows,
and greens are her usual colors, although she does work in some bold
purples in from time to time. Akemi tends to follow her own trends
when it comes to fashion, and right now that is serving her well
because she's having to scrounge up a totally new wardrobe on a very
limited budget-- a totally new experience for the total spendthrift!
So although she adores dramatic and elaborate styles, her budget has
her going for much more practical clothing that she usually wears in
the Negaverse. Except for her footwear, which remains largely high
heeled shoes in bright colors largely secured to her legs with
ribbons or straps. She LOVES strappy sandals and has very
little trouble running in them. After all, they are every bit as
fabulous as she is, plus they allow you to show off your beautiful
pedicure! If anything, her overall clothing choices reflect a sensual
personality, very focused on color of fabric choices, with more than
a little dramatic flair. Then again, Akemi's got the kind of body to
make a vest look sexy, so... there you go.
History: Akemi’s first memory was of her third birthday party and receiving the best present ever, a stuffed teddy bear named Kuma-chan. Beyond that, nothing else unusual occurred in Akemi’s life until her third day of school. And that was when Akemi entered hell.
School was very tough on Akemi. She wasn’t able to puzzle out the blurry symbols in the books, the teachers largely ignored her, and the kids were merciless with their teasing. Within the now hostile environment of school, the idea that Akemi was stupid began to fester within her. It still rests there today.
Eventually her parents noticed a problem, hired tutors, and discovered a large part of the problem rested in Akemi’s poor eyesight. Magical glasses (or what Akemi believed were magical glasses) solved that problem, and with a great deal of hard work on Akemi’s part, she was able to catch up with the rest of her class. She was very much average in her studies, still having problems with reading comprehension, but no longer the class dummy unable to read.
The whole experience of her early school career reinforced two beliefs: that she was stupid, but with hard work, she could do anything.
She tackled her popularity problem next, making lists of what the popular kids were like, what they wore, how the acted, the works. And then she proceeded to try and do all the things on the list herself. Changing schools when her father was promoted to a much higher, more lucrative position within the Bank helped (although it did give her an addiction to caffeine at the tender age of eight), but it was mostly through hard work and utilizing her budding fashion sense that propelled Akemi to being one of the popular kids.
But after enjoying her success for a few months, Akemi began to desire much more. Merely being popular with a few 30 or so kids wasn’t enough for her. She wanted to be adored by everyone. So she got out her trusty notebook and began to mind map (a very useful skill her tutors taught her). She came to the conclusion that Idols were loved by pretty much everyone, and decided she’d become an Idol herself.
Armed with her optimism and firm belief that hard work could overcome anything, Akemi begged her parents to help with her quest. Happy that the girl was no longer mopping around proclaiming she was stupid, her parents let her take all sorts of lessons. She had dancing lessons, acting lessons, singing lessons, even lessons on building a stage presence. All her teachers realized poor Akemi was quite without talent, particularly with singing, but Akemi refused to back down. She was going to be an Idol! NOTHING would stop her!
She was eleven years old when Idol Productions dropped into her life. It was a weathered flyer advertising try-outs for a reality television show that promised to follow a young girl on her road to becoming Japan’s most famous Idol ever. Akemi was hooked, and forced her parents to take her to the audition a week later. Akemi put on her dancing shoes, strutted around before the producers, blundered her way through a song, and was a complete and miserable failure.
Exactly what the producers were looking for. They were attracted to Akemi’s bright personality and energized force, mistaking it for charisma, and decided she would be perfect for their plans. Their plans for world domination, that is. Idol Productions was in fact the front of a team of villains loosely connected to a history with the Moon Kingdom, and poor Akemi stumbled onto a huge plot they had devised to leech energy from Idol fans.
So Akemi was signed on to be an Idol. The company promised they’d get back to Akemi in six months, professing they needed to ‘prepare’ for the show, and left Akemi to her own devices. Which amounted to her practicing her singing and dancing around her room where only her cat, Doraneko, and Kuma-chan, her stuffed teddy bear, could see. Poor, poor Doraneko.
Akemi was called forth to Idol Productions and recorded an album which was, unknown to her, heavily modified. The first single was leaked out and suddenly, Akemi was getting airtime. Idol Productions marketed her as Myojo!, but her song was on the airwaves, so Akemi didn’t care and her parents breathed a sigh of relief that their clever daughter had found a talent at last and would stop making demands for expensive lessons. She was very, VERY excited when Idol Productions let her know that, due to the success of her single, she would be going out on tour!
She should have been suspicious, but what almost twelve-year-old would in her shoes? And so Akemi and her mother arrived at the first stop in their tour, a busy little shopping district, with Doraneko a stowaway in Akemi’s performance bag. Akemi was told she would be lip syncing-- all the greats did it-- and was marched out to a tiny stage.
Akemi was so excited she almost embarrassed herself right there on stage. She was so excited, in fact, she didn’t notice her cat was behind her on the stage, a worried expression on his white face. She opened her mouth and gave the best lip syncing performance she was able to give, shining with the might of her full personality.
The voice pumping out of the speakers was digitally modified by Idol Productions, not just to sound decent, but also to create an attraction effect. People began to gather around the stage in numbers, and Akemi incorrectly thought it was because everyone loved her. She was the star! She danced blissfully around, totally oblivious to everything.
Everything, that is, until a youma broke onto the scene and started sucking energy out of people. Akemi noticed that right away, immediately stopping her act and backing away-- only to trip over her cat. And that’s where things got hazy, because her sweet little cat Doraneko started talking, yelling something about her being a superhero and something about Venus, but Akemi couldn’t be sure because she fainted dead away.
And when she woke up, her cat was still talking, but the weird youma creature at least was gone. Akemi learned her stray cat was in fact Artemis and learned that Idol Productions was actually the front for an evil villain team and learned all about her destiny. And then, Artemis led her to her mom and she went home to process everything.
A huge part of Akemi was unwilling to let go of her dream of becoming an Idol, and that motivated her to decide to take out her production company from the inside. Artemis was against it-- it was a team of criminals, and despite most of them not having any magical abilities, it was still incredibly dangerous-- but there was no stopping Akemi when she made her mind up.
Akemi spent all of her 12th year fighting Idol Productions and training. Using her crescent compact, her brilliant cat Artemis, and the help of a mysterious computer program called Mainframe, she was able to fight for love and justice while rising in Japan as an Idol. Her music really caught on when it was used on a series of ads for a energy drink company, and she was able to switch to a different management company and really take the fight to Idol Productions.
But Akemi never would have defeated Idol Productions alone, even with Artemis and Mainframe. She was able to take out a significant amount of minions, though, and eventually there was only three figures left. Thankfully Akemi didn’t stand alone. She had an ally named Gizoku Supeki, who prowled the streets as the Ace of Spades. Consumed with his own agenda, Supeki took out the last two, leaving only the leader of Idol Productions: Boss Man. And he, a great big coward, went into hiding. Supeki disappeared, pledging to track Boss Man down, leaving Akemi with nothing left to do but try and record more crazy crack music. And train. Because hard work had won her the rest of her goals in life, why not with her magical powers?
Unfortunately for Akemi, her second album only had one hit: Myojo!KissKiss!!. It received so much airplay that she became overexposed and her career was essentially over. But Akemi refused to believe it! She worked hard, taking vocal lessons (which did her no good, she just had a horrible voice no matter how hard she trained), moping around the house watching cheesy shows, pouring over her scrapbooks, grudgingly going to school, and training with Artemis.
Just after her 14th birthday, Boss Man resurfaced. Akemi transformed into Sailor V and prepared to do battle, but Boss Man was too powerful. Unfortunately for Akemi, he was far too powerful for her to take on alone, having spent his time in hiding gathering a great deal of energy. The Ace of Spades showed up to help, but he, too, was unable to take down the Boss Man. Things looked hopeless until Artemis threw Sailor V a new transformational object.
She henshined into Sailor Venus for the first time. While the Ace of Spades distracted Boss Man, Venus hit him with her Ravishing Crush Knockout attack, and Boss Man was pushed by the force of her attack out a glass window. From the 30th floor. Supeki disappeared, leaving Venus to return to her civilian form and figure out what to do next.
She continued training and even went on infrequent patrols as Sailor V. She was hesitant to transform into Venus again, because it didn’t feel right without the rest of the team Artemis had told her all about, a group of warriors she’d eventually join. Akemi was released from her recording contract and was forced, much to her displeasure, to join a new public school when her parents moved the family again. Akemi had good reason to be upset with the move for family reasons as well. Her father had lost his coveted position within the Bank and was forced to work his way up the Bank ladder once again. Sometimes, the stock market doesn't work in your favor-- particularly when it crashes. Oops. Being the daughter of a Executive Clerk at the Bank wasn't as important sounding as a full Executive's daughter! Silly Father for making 'bad' business decisions at the bank...
A year and a half prior to jumping to our universe, Akemi managed to stumble across the budding Senshi. She joined the team and fought in many, many battles under her rightful warrior form of Sailor Venus. It was difficult for her at first, because she was the Senshi with arguably the most experience but was pretty young compared to some of their number. Her role as a leader was definitely something Akemi had to apply a great deal of hard work to, be it listening to Artemis go on and on about the duties of a Senshi or grudgingly opening up a book to researching exactly what made a great leader.
Her hard work and hard training of her team worked well, because they were able to take on a great deal of villains and win. Akemi began to think her team, and herself, were invincible. She even began toying with the idea of restarting her career. When the mission outside the Negaverse came up, Akemi thought it would be super easy. They were super heroes, after all. What harm could a little jaunt to another universe be?
Current Situation: Akemi
was not pleased when she discovered she would be stuck in this crazy,
backwards universe. She wasn’t an Idol, much less a former
has-been Idol, here! She was a *gulp* nobody! And to make matters
worse, she arrived with barely any yen on her, confident she would be
back in her rightful place in a few hours, tops. Silly silly Akemi!
So Akemi sold her prized watch, given to her by her second manager (the one who wasn’t evil!), and is using that money (as well as some Artemis smuggled with him) to live out of a cheap hotel. The cats, Artemis and Luna, have taken to pilfering items for Akemi and helping her with her task of finding her fellow Senshi.
Akemi spends most of her time fretting over her girls at night, searching for her girls during the daytime, and trying to deal with her grief over Moon in the odd moments in between.
Guardian
Name: Artemis
Appearance:
Artemis appears to be a
platinum Burmese cat with a big old golden crescent moon plastered on
his forehead. This is in fact a bald spot, and it itches terribly in
heat; Artemis is sure to tell you exactly how bad it feels.
He’s from a medium breed of cat, so physically he's long but
doesn't appear to be as plump as he is. Artemis weighs more than he
appears, so he certainly has a great deal of oomph behind him when he
launches himself into your lap. Which, to Akemi's regret, he does
often. His face is unusually round and devoid of markings, save for
the bald patch. His fur is an unusual shade of platinum for a
Burmese, much closer to true white than silver, but is otherwise
normal for the breed, short and soft. Akemi believes his fur to feel
like crushed velvet, silky to the touch and very appealing, but it
stinks terribly when wet and Artemis takes on the appearance of a
shivering rat on those occasions. His whiskers droop, his ears are
pointed in graceful arches atop his skull, and his eyes-oh, you could
write volumes and volumes on his eyes alone. Artemis uses his eyes to
win the world for himself; like the breed, Artemis has the feline
equivalent of puppy dog eyes, all big and luminous, and when his
powers of speech don’t work, he just turns up the eyes. They
are an unusual color, big soulful pale blue tinged with gold, and
they are Akemi’s biggest weapons in this Universe. Who can say
no to a cat with eyes so expressive, so pure?! Give him some yen, a
pot sticker, anything he wants! All the more for Akemi!
Personality:
When dealing with people, Artemis has learned to embrace his eyes,
letting them do most of the speaking for him. They are so soulful and
pure that anyone with half a heart should
love him for those eyes alone. He has no shame in using them to get
what he wants; after all, they were Artemis' best tool when banging
Sailor V training down Akemi’s head all those years ago!
When not trying to get something with his eyes, Artemis is a pretty laid back, happy go lucky cat. He lets Luna do most of the talking, butting in when he thinks she’s missed something important, but generally content to let other people do the hard work. He isn’t lazy, per say, just lively and easily distracted, and likes to let others, especially Luna, do the more focused work. He’s a good match for his human, he likes to say, even if she does drive him crazy. Especially with her messy habits. Artemis loves things to be in their place, but his charge... oh, she is just a walking trash heap. Impossible to work with! But he is easily appeased with a firm petting session, little love bug that Artemis is.
With Akemi, Artemis acts as an older brother who is frequently exasperated by how the girl just is not want he wants her to be. And yet, he wouldn’t change Akemi, because he clearly adores her despite his not so gentle retorts. He has achieved a special harmony with Akemi, so much so that he usually knows what she is thinking before she does, and he uses this to manipulate her for her own good. Even if it is something as simple as hiding her yen so she can't spend it on trivial items or worse, lose it. Someone has to watch the girl, after all!
And when it comes to matters revolving around the Senshi… well, those subjects are the only things that set him off worrying. And he worries over everything. Why is Akemi not eating enough? How can she fight on an empty stomach? And why is Uranus not sitting with Neptune? Why are the communicators not working? Clearly, doom is befalling everyone!
This aspect of his personality has developed to be even stronger than it might have been in the past, because in this Universe, Artemis is working even harder to use his tirades and worrying to get Akemi to do what he wants. He’s not really as much in a panic as he might seem, but don’t tell Akemi that.
Please. She’d kick him ;___;
And with Luna… we’ll just say he turns his luminous eyes up a notch around her. He’s been unsuccessfully wooing the poor thing for years and years and years, and he really hasn’t gotten anywhere. But he will, oh yes he will! He is determined that she will be his, and in this area he is every bit as optimistic in this case as his human can be.
And yes, Akemi would be every bit as much jealous if Luna and Artemis got together as she was when Moon and Endymion did. Yep, jealous over a cat relationship, that's our Senshi of Love and Beauty right then. The Negaverse Senshi are clearly doomed!
Warrior Information
Symbol: The
symbol for the planet Venus (and a symbol for women). The planetary
symbol for Venus is a perfect circle atop a short cross.
Main
Color: Orange Red
Secondary Color: Cadmium yellow
Transformation
Phrase:
"Venus Crystal Power, Make Up!"
Sequence: Akemi
shouts the phrase with her hands crossed over her heart. At once her
symbol burns in the center of her forehead and ribbons of light in
orange red and cadmium yellow float around her. Akemi's arms uncross
and flutter above her head, clasping her henshin stick. The lights
criss cross over her body until her form is consumed within the
brightness. A sound of a kiss rings out and the cocoon of light
disappears, revealing Sailor Venus!
Introduction Phrase:
“With the beautiful love of Venus, I will punish those who do
wrong. And that means you!” Venus shouts while standing with
her ankles crossed, one hand on her hip and the other making a
naughty-naughty finger wave.
Tiara: Gold
with a gemstone in the orange yellow at the center.
'Mask':
Unfortunately for Venus, her eyesight doesn't improve in Senshi form.
However, her Sailor V 'mask' is retained, although it is now an
orange red shade. Her mask is really just overly embellished glasses,
the lenses set in an eternity sign loop, with two short
embellishments arching out of the sides of the frames like wings. Her
eyebrows are visible, but her eyes are usually hidden beneath the
glass in the genre's standard gleam. When Venus is without her mask,
she's able to see blurry, colorful figures without much detail, but
that's about it.
Hair: Venus loves her Senshi
hairstyle. Her frizzy hair is kept under control with the use of four
orange red ribbons. One secures her hair just above her hairline,
another gathers her hair into a ponytail at eyebrow level, another
re-gathers her hair at chin level, and the final one gathers her hair
at shoulder level, leaving the hair to its curly, tapered
ends.
Earrings: A simple, small heart in a strange,
orange red metal.
Choker: Orange red with a gold star at
the center.
Sailor Collar: Orange red with a thin white
stripe on the outer edge.
Front Bow: Cadmium yellow, with
an orb in the senshi's orange red at the center.
Bodice:
Plain white.
Gloves: Pearly white gloves with a soft, satin
like texture that cling to her skin and end at her elbows with two
thin orange red strips of fabric for embellishment.
Skirt:
A orange red skirt that comes down to about mid-thigh.
Back
Bow: Cadmium yellow.
Shoes:
Orange red sandals, although they feature a closed toe reinforced
with metal, and offer a minimal, inch and a half heel, and are
secured with four ribbons. The smaller, thicker ribbons are the same
fabric and size as her choker and secure the sandals to both her
heels, while the thinner, longer ribbons circle her legs clear up to
mid-calf and are in a shiny cadmium yellow.
Attacks
Name: Gilt Kiss Stunner! (Haven't edited it yet :P)
What It Does:
Venus whispers her attack phrase and raises her hand to her pursed lips, palm up, with fingers pointing to the victim. The air around her begins to shimmer with heat as Venus blows a kiss at her victim. As soon as the kiss leaves her fingers it is transformed into group of between five and 30 tiny, orange red and cadmium yellow, metallic hearts. These hearts shoot out and buzz around the victim in a tiny cloud of miniature hearts. Venus winks, and the hearts dive in, striking the victim. Each heart breaks the moment it strikes skin.
Effect: As each heart breaks, it localizes the full pain of a broken heart on the patch of skin. For those who have never been in love or have experienced puppy love at best, the sensation is strong itches that thankfully fade quickly; they are annoying little love bites, but nothing to get all worked up about. For those who have been in love, or are in love currently, the sensation burns terribly, increasing in intensity with each heart striking flesh.
Restrictions: For the hearts to do their business, they have to strike skin. To avoid the hearts: cover up. Hide under a blanket or a shield or run into a building and shut the door behind you. The best way to avoid the hearts is to feel intense love (adoration, physical love, BFF love, unconditional love, etc) for Venus, because then the hearts never break and cause pain. If Venus doesn't wink, the hearts disappear after two minutes. The amount of hearts summoned depends on her power levels; she can repeat the attack three to four times with using the bare minimum of five hearts, but if she uses the full thirty hearts, she cannot repeat the attack again.
Name: Ravishing Crush Knockout!
What it does:To begin, Venus takes off her glove and raises a hand above her head. Her skin and nails brighten
to an attractive and vibrant color, leeching out of her skin to form
a bright orange red aura. This aura circles her body before streaking
out towards the target. If you look closely enough, tiny hearts
tumble within the orange red aura. The aura then strikes the target with
great force.
Effect:
The effect of this attack depends on how much force Venus uses. Most of the time, Venus only uses a moderate amount of force; unless you are under 50 pounds, it isn't going to knock you over. Instead, it will just feel as if a heavy object just knocked the wind out of you. When she uses the more significant, 'full' amount of force, it will knock an average sized person over.
Restrictions: Venus is able to use this attack
three times per henshin with the lowest level, and once with the
maximum level. The energy that Venus is using is her own beauty
forces, so it is too draining to use more than three times.
Furthermore, after using this attack, her skin where the beauty
forces have been drawn from looks gray and unwell until she either
de-henshins or uses the attack again. Standard evasive procedures
apply-- either get out of the way of the aura or put something in
your place! Really heavy people or objects are not as affected by
this attack as most people, but for everyone else, to avoid being knocked over, you
either have to plant some stabilizing device (sword, etc) or be
really, really heavy (upwards of 300 pounds).
Name: Love is Blind!
What it does: This attack utilizes the Holy Moon Sword. Venus raises the sword and turns it so that the flat face of the crescent pummel is aimed her target's eyes. Venus calls out in a steady voice: “Love is...” The crescent pummel radiates an orange red aura, the power of unconditional love. “Blind!” The aura bursts out of the pummel in a streak of orange red, flying straight towards the target's eyes.
Effect: If the aura reaches the eyes of the target, they find themselves with severely limited vision. The target's field of vision is limited to orange red monochrome. The effect can be very jarring, but victims remain able to see, with one startling exception: people who practice a lot of unconditional love are hard to see. Because Venus usually continues to keep the crescent pummel radiating unconditional love, she, too, is nearly invisible (as well as anything that is standing within a six foot radius around the sword).
Notes: The unconditional love that Venus is utilizing to fuel the attack comes from two sources. 1: The forces of Love she represents (Unconditional Love is the purest kind of Love). 2: The sum of all unconditional love she feels as a person. One side effect of that unconditional love being channeled through the Holy Moon Sword is it acts as a beacon for the Negaverse Senshi. Unfortunately, it only radiates for 4, 5 blocks tops and she drains all her magical power (for that henshin/day) within 10 minutes, so unless Venus is going to risk sapping all her energy running about Tokyo waving the sword around, she's not going to randomly stumble across all her team. Venus can utilize this beacon ability without using the full brunt of the attack by leaving off "blind" and thus never finishing the attack phrase.
Restrictions: Duration. The orange red-shift effect lasts 2-3 minutes on most; 3-4 for those who don't practice much unconditional love, and 30-45 seconds on those who do practice a lot of unconditional love. Power. The power levels post attack depend on the time the sword's been radiating unconditional love. Five minutes radiating means no more attacks that henshin; two minutes, one or two attacks at their lowest levels; below that, she's got more options. The sword stops radiating until she stops it or after 8-9 minutes of use. Misc Restrictions, How to Avoid, Etc. If Venus is over six feet away from the sword she is totally visible. If anything hits the sword's pummel, it stops the attack full stop. If the aura fails to penetrate the eyes, the aura is unable to create an orange-red vision shift and fades into nothingness.
Weapon: Venus wields the Holy Moon Sword, a long and slender blade made out of a deceptive crystal material that, despite its fragile appearance, is able to chip diamonds and easily dents things. She loves it dearly, and not just as the ultimate in accessories!
The sword is, quite truthfully, gorgeous. The hilt is a series of oval elongations of a pearly metal decorated with crescents. The top of the hilt is a pearly crescent in the Moon Kingdom standard, the bottom arch of the crescent connecting to a series of folds that smooth into a long, elongated oval. This is where Venus' hands fit very comfortably. The smooth oval tappers into another series of folds that connect with the pommel, a giant crescent also in the Moon Kingdom standard. The crystal blade appears to grow over of the crescent's bottom arch, spreading down to form slender, long blade with a indentation in the middle.
And Venus loves her sword to bits, even if it is heavy and hard to use in most fighting situations!
Sailor V: Akemi did bring her crescent compact that allows her to henshin into Sailor V. However, this was purely Artemis' doing, because he thought the old 'toy' might be useful. As Sailor V, Akemi's attacks are the same as her Sailor Venus ones, except for one tiny detail and one big detail: her powers place crescents where hearts occur as Sailor Venus, and her powers are barely a third as powerful as her Venus ones. Furthermore, because this form cannot wield the Holy Moon Sword, she can't use her most devastating attack, either. This is a good form to use for distraction purposes, but not much else. Because she doesn't get the Holy Moon Sword and is so much weaker in this form, she tries to avoid using it. She views the form very much as her child-self, and is very uncomfortable fighting as Sailor V. She's been there, done that. Akemi cannot switch between Sailor V and Sailor Venus with the same henshin tools; she can go from Sailor V to Sailor Venus only using her Sailor Venus henshin device, and likewise can only go from Sailor Venus to Sailor V with her Sailor V henshin device.
Sailor V Fuku: Almost completely identical to her Venus form, except for minute costume details and a different hairstyle. As Sailor V, Akemi's mask is a bright yellow color, and her choker is decorated with a crescent moon superimposed over a heart, a symbol that matches the one on her broach. Her gloves are lined with lace instead of two bands of orange red, and her skirt is the same but with a lace edged slip peaking out from below (she was 11 when she first transformed after all!). Her shoes are the same, as are her bows, earrings, and collar. The biggest change is to Akemi's hair-- it is pulled up into two high pig tails, held in place with hair elastics decorated with crystal hearts. Just as in her Sailor Venus fuku, though, Akemi's makeup is variations of orange red (lipstick and lower eyeshadow) and yellow (sparkle powder on her cheeks and upper eyeshadow).
Sailor V Tools: She's no longer connected to the mysterious Mainframe and her communicator still doesn't work, but V is able to use her crescent compact for its minor transformation uses. But... well... it just is not as great as Moon's. For example, her disguises almost always fail at the worst possible moment and they only work for Akemi. Furthermore, she always still looks like herself, just with her hair arranged differently and wearing different clothes. This minor transformation/disguise ability is why Artemis brought the compact with them, not for the ability to transform into Sailor V.

Akemi knew she wasn't in Tokyo anymore. At least, not her Tokyo. Her Tokyo sparkled in the sun, a bright beacon of greatness. She always saw Tokyo as the seat of the world, a place of justice and greatness.
But not this place. This place was just dirty, and it smelled funny too, like every grimy Youma she'd ever encountered had come to this city to die. Not a great first impression.
Hurray, she'd landed in a stinky, dirty Universe. And as she looked around, seeing none of the team, she realized slowly she was alone in this stinky, dirty Universe. Great. Just spectacularly great.
From the messenger bag at her hip, Akemi noticed a fuzzy white head pop out and take a gander at the grime around them. He didn't look particularly happy, but you never knew with her cat. After all, it was hard enough reading people without learning Feline facial mannerisms too.
"Akemi? Where are we? Did you not listen to what End-"
"I did exactly what he told me to do. He even gave me a diagram to make sure!" Akemi's voice was, as usual, more forceful than she wanted, and people at the other end of the alley were starring at her. She couldn't tell from this distance-- where had her glasses gone?-- but she wagered they were looking at her oddly.
As well they should. She was a sixteen-year-old girl appearing out of nowhere talking to a cat in a messenger bag. Thankfully no one had cameras to document Myojo! going crazy...
"Wait a minute," Akemi said slowly, a gleam of enthusiasm reaching her confused eyes. "Myojo! doesn't exist in this universe!"
"That would be so, Idol-girl," Artemis made it clear this wasn't a brilliant leap of logic.
She'd get him back later for that. Her hand smacking a lump on his head flashed across her mind, and she grinned. Couldn't help herself, the image was too funny!
The grin must have looked fiendish, because Artemis had no trouble guessing exactly what Akemi was thinking. "Akemi, this is no time for such thoughts. We have to find Serenity and the others and complete our mission."
"Fine," Akemi breezed, but she moved into the crowd anyway. She was enjoying the sensation of being anonymous now, but knew it would get old fast. She wanted someone to recognize her, after all. Being just a regular girl was not for Akemi, former Idol.
"You should be more worried. The other Senshi are out there, probably just as separated as you are. We must find them," Artemis pulled a paw from the messenger bag to lightly touch her arm. She assumed it to be an earnest gesture-- it didn't feel like a kitty punch.
"I am sure they are fine, Artemis. But if you are worried, why don't you try the communicator?"
"I did, that's what I popped out to tell you. It doesn't work."
"Oh. Well, okay, I can see where you are worried about now,” Akemi paused, rubbing the bridge of her nose. That certainly changed things, and she was beginning to feel the signs of worry. This was not turning out to be the easy mission she'd thought it would be. “But Artemis, the girls are great warriors and certainly know how to take care of themselves. Why, some of them are adults already! They get to live on their own and don't have to have their parents controlling their every move... not that mine do. You know I am the one who rules the roost, Artemis. But to have that kind of power..." Akemi trailed off, happily picturing life on her own. No rules! She could eat whatever she wanted! All the coffee and energy drinks she could want!
"Akemi, your stomach is rumbling," Artemis muttered. "It is so loud I think they can hear it all the way at the peak of Fuji-san."
:"I'd better find some food, then!"
"Akemi! You must be finding the Senshi first!"
"But Artemis! It could take all day to hunt them down and I'm hungry now!"
The cat shook his head. She knew he'd want to hold it and wail, but he wouldn't bring that much attention to her.
She almost wished he would. Usually by now Akemi would have been recognized. But, she thought with a sigh, no one knew Myojo! here. Which was a shame, because she hadn't brought that much yen with her and people who liked Idols would usually give her things at a discount and wow, Artemis was right, she was starving! She was hungry enough to feed a kobe cow. "Mmm, Kobe-niku..." Akemi was practically drooling. Steak! Teppanyaki! Sashimi! All of it danced enticingly in her head.
Sometimes being a visual person was not fun, particularly when Akemi was this desperately hungry. Why hadn't she had anything to eat this morning?
"Sometimes I don't know what to do with you," Artemis wailed as Akemi lead the way, by her nose, to a food stand nearby.
"You know you adore me Artemis," Akemi said between sniffs. "And besides, the girls are probably fine. I mean, nothing has killed us in all the time we've been Senshi. I don't see how anything could go wrong. Except..." Akemi trailed off mournfully, studying the prices.
"Except what?" Artemis prodded, sounding concerned.
""Except for not having enough yen for that sukiyaki."
"Akemi."
"Artemis!"
"Akemi!!"
Akemi pouted but moved away. She'd just have to find less expensive food and hope it didn't taste as gross as this place smelled. Then she'd hunt down the rest of the team. They couldn't get into too much trouble without her...

Hours later, Akemi crawled into the dingy hotel room, all she and Artemis could find for the tiny amount of yen the cat had grudgingly admitted he'd stashed away for the trip. It wouldn't last, but at least they had a roof over their head.
She eyed the bed warily. "Think of Japan and Serenity," She muttered, closing her eyes as she fell backwards onto it.
Oh, that felt good. "Do you mind turning the light off, Artemis?" Akemi muttered as her body began to tingle as the energy seeped into the grungy comforter below her. Not having any caffeine in her system was actually working in her favor for once, but she was not sleeping under that thing pretending to be a blanket!
There was no answer. She cracked open an eye and saw at once a newcomer in their room. With the help of her glasses, found at the bottom of her bag only an hour before, Akemi could see clearly it was either Luna, or a cat that looked very much like Luna.
"Konban wa, Luna." Akemi mumbled, taking into account the late hour. She began to stretch out the tips of her toes, unconscious of the movement.
The cat jumped nimbly down from her perch but said nothing.
And that was when Akemi knew.

The body of the sixteen-year-old was oddly stilled, as if one of the cats had found a remote and hit pause. Her toes were stuck in mid arch, fingers half clenched, and Artemis wasn't sure if he could make out if her chest was moving. Worried, because even in the dead of sleep Akemi never ceased moving, he jumped atop the bed, landing square on her chest.
And Akemi didn't even push him off.
This was not good at all.

She knew it the moment Luna's eyes caught hers. There was no mistaking what was going on behind those gleaming eyes. If Luna was equipped with tear ducts, Akemi knew the cat would be sobbing right now. What lurked behind the cat's eyes was grief. Feline and remote and alien to anything Akemi had witnessed in her own species, but it was grief all the same.
Every inch of Akemi's body ceased moving. Except her brain, which was feeding her images five times faster than the norm. It had to be Moon. It had to be. Akemi wasn't so hung up on her own specialness not to realize that Luna wouldn't be that emotionally hung over if it had been herself. Or one of the other girls.
Moon's soft smile flashed over gruesome images of what could have possibly happened. Serenity in a hospital somewhere, tubes crammed into her sensitive skin, jaw slack and eyes unseeing. Moon abandoned in a dark alley, bleeding out because who would listen to a talking cat saying a Hero needed help? Oh no, what if Luna had come for Akemi to help?
The movement began slowly; her fingers clenched, toes dug into the bed's comforter, and she took a ragged breath of air, tearing oxygen from the room.
"What happened to Moon?" Akemi bit out, her voice rasping even more than usual even as her eyes squeezed vise shut; she couldn't deal with the rawness of Luna's eyes, not now. Oh Moon...
Luna wasted no time explaining, skipping no detail even as Akemi's heart screamed for no more. She knew Luna was describing the scene to bash it through Akemi's head what had happened, to make it real, but it was too much for Akemi.
She didn't have to try very hard, because Akemi had no trouble visualizing exactly what happened. Understanding what her heart had known the minute Luna had appeared without Serenity. Moon's face, bloodied and battered, crept up into her brain, latching on like a crack song, and refused to let go. Moon wasn't taunting her friend-- no, this was much worse. Serenity was haunting her, and no effort to squeeze that image back down below her conscious was going to work.
So Akemi did the next thing she could do, what the cats had thought she would do at once. She burst into furious tears, arms shaking with their need to smack something, anything, to make the pain less intense. But it wouldn't be enough. It would never be enough without Moon. Akemi felt like she was dying, her body seizing itself into this raw, pink mess of tears and rage and she wasn't sure what that black feeling was, but it meant her no good and she wanted no part of it.
"Moon-sama," she whispered between broken gasps for air, not caring that she was reaching hysteria. More visuals danced through her thick skull, each of the girls-- her girls now-- taking Moon's place, each of them more battered than the next. She couldn't push those images down, either, so she kept crying, hoping to thrust them out for the world, throw them anywhere but inside her brain.
She wasn't just crying for herself. No, she was crying for the cats, too, because they couldn't cry for themselves. And most of all, she was crying for her lost friend. Oh Moon...
Akemi felt the cats settling in against her skin, giving her comfort physically because just telling her it was going to be alright wasn't going to work. Because it wasn't going to be alright. She had... Akemi had failed. And she hadn't even known until hours later. How oblivious was she? What kind of a leader was she? If only she had kept searching instead of immediately going after her own needs first...
The sobs shook her body so hard the bed felt like it was levitating. She picked the nearest cat-- wet, bleary eyes saw white fur, so it was Artemis then--from her hip and clung to his shaking form, her face pressed against his softness. Her eyes were drenching him, but Artemis wouldn't mind.
She stayed that way for hours, until there were no tears left and she finally noticed her face was covered in sticking clumps of cat fur. She washed her face, methodically wiping away all traces of her pain that she could see, trying to ignore the way her hands were shaking.
Akemi pushed her way through the dingy hotel room, kicking up a wind with her speed and frenzy. She gathered her things-- because there was no way she'd leave them here, where who knows what could get into them-- grabbed the cats by the scruff of their necks and stuffed them in her messenger bag too, and slammed the door on her way out.
She was going to find her girls. And there wasn't anything this universe could do to stop her!
